Drug Shows Promise in Ankylosing Spondylitis Treatment

Researchers at Novartis, a pharmaceutical company based in Basel, Switzerland, have seen positive results in tests of the company’s drug AIN457 (also known as secukinumab) as a treatment for ankylosing spondylitis (AS). In studies of the drug, people with AS showed rapid and statistically-significant improvement when taking secukinumab compared to people taking placebo (inactive treatment).
