Link Found Between Enzymes and Inflammation-Causing Neutrophils

New research conducted by the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis indicates that enzymes linked to diabetes and obesity may play roles in rheumatoid arthritis and leukemia. The researchers used genetically modified mice to study the relationship between specific enzymes that turn carbohydrates into the building blocks of fat and specialized white blood cells called neutrophils.
